Andy – Saxophonist West Midlands, Oboe Player

Andy started playing the Saxophone at the age of nineteen and within a year he had abandoned his formal education to devote his life to his newly found vocation, the Saxophone and the world of sound. Over subsequent years Andy has worked and learnt from the who’s who of the British Jazz scene as well as some of the best of British Pop and Ska. Andy has worked across Europe and toured the USA, Europe and Japan with the Specials, Special Beat, Skatalites and Jazz Jamaica. He has also supported Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers with the Classical Reggae pioneers Bubble Free. Andy was lead Tenor Sax with Tomorrow's Warriors (replacing Denys Baptiste) and has also attended the prestigious Guildhall School of Music, London where he studied under Jean Toussaint, Pete Churchill, Simon Purcell and Scott Stroman. However, what separates Andy from the run of the mill performer is the fact that he is largely self-taught and has used the opportunity this provides to forge his own unique voice. He is rapidly proving through his music that he is an integral part of a rich legacy embracing past, present and, more importantly, the future. In brief, he has arrived and has something to say!
