Cuban Band – Jan su Salsa

"Jan y su Salsa is a 9 piece (3 horn, 3 percussion, piano, double bass and lead Latin singer) 100% live band playing the best of modern salsa, timba, Nuyorican mambos, son, authentic cha cha chas and boleros. We can also offer salsa dancers/teachers to give exhibition dances, help your guests with their steps and get everyone on to the dance floor. Cafecito plays a lively pre-salsa style of music which is still heard on the streets of old Havana today - cha cha chas, boleros, mambos and danzones in the Buena Vista Social Club vein. Cafecito usually plays as a 6 piece although if you would like background music - say for a reception, we can play as a 5 piece. www.cafecitoband.co.uk Jan Steele jazz quartet (or trio or duo) is a tenor saxophone led band specialising in the Song Book repertoire of Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, George Gershwin, Duke Ellington & Cole Porter - providing foot-tapping music, or dreamy backgrounds. Their 9 piece band consists of Latin American lead vocalist, trumpet, trombone, saxophone/flute, three Latin percussionists (congas, bongos & timbales), piano and double bass. This band's repertoire consists of modern salsa and timba, Nuyorican mambo, authentic cha-cha-chá, son, guaracha and Latin jazz, spiced up when needed with classic danzónes, and boléros. They can provide salsa dancers/teachers who can give exhibition dances, demonstrate steps, and help to get everyone onto the dance floor whatever their level of expertise. Another option which some wedding couples have chosen is to have one of their dancers to choreograph their first dance. This is always stunning and memorable, and you and your guests will never forget it! No other Latin band in Britain today has such a wide and contrasting repertoire. They take great care in their arrangements to use the best Cuban, Colombian, Puerto Rican and New York sources to choose not just exciting dance music, but strong compositions that have stood the test of time. Their lead singers are native born Spanish speakers from Cuba, Venezuela & Colombia, and all of our percussionists have studied extensively in Cuba and other Latin American countries.
